After visiting Tai Po Market, I walked about 10 minutes to Man Mo Temple which is a small temple built in 1893 (restoration completed in 1985) along a densely populated, narrow street.
A Man Mo Temple or Man Mo Miu is a temple for the worship of the civil or literature god Man Tai / Man Cheong and the martial god Mo Tai / Kwan Tai. The two gods were popularly patronized by scholars and students seeking progress in their study or ranking in the civil examinations in the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are several Man Mo Temples in Hong Kong. The pics below are of the one located in Tai Po. I like the fifth pic below with the large incense coils with red prayer plaques that hang from the ceiling as the pic looks 3D.
The temple acts as a local gathering point for the area's elderly. The front courtyard, planted with trees, provides some shade for those taking a rest on the benches.
This is Duke. Like all of the other temples, very impressive.
